Every October, many brands show their support for people affected by breast cancer by creating exclusive collections, with a percentage of the proceeds going to breast cancer foundations. Even though our favorite products get an optimistic makeover and we could still give back to the community while we make our purchase, we need to be aware of the real cause here: increasing care and raising awareness for early detection and treatment of cancer. breast.
According to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association, one in 20 women develops breast cancer, and the disease remains one of the most common cancers found in women. Asking for awareness may no longer be enough to urge women to take their screening measures seriously; we should call for action. Here are seven brands that are doing the same.
Alia B. x Sofia Haron #Pink October
Alia Bastamam is no stranger to working with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM). For the past two years, Alia has actively taken on the responsibility of providing for the cancer warriors and survivors of the Children’s Home of Hope, with the help of NCSM. This year, the distinguished fashion designer collaborated with visual artist Sofia Haron for Pink October. The result is a limited edition printed sweatshirt, called Awaken, which features a digitized painting of Sofia. The painting consists of an eyeball looking out through an open mouth that represents the artist’s vision of the importance of looking inward to build a deeper understanding and connection to humanity. All proceeds will be donated to NCSM.
