1Password, the popular password management app from developer AgileBits, has been updated to version 7.7 for Mac. The update, which comes alongside the release of macOS Big Sur, includes a number of exciting new features for Mac users , including Apple Watch Unlock support, along with tighter integration with the Safari web browser.

Launched in 2006, 1Password provides a place for users to securely sync and store their passwords, software licenses, and other sensitive information between various devices, including Android phones, iPad, iPhone, Mac, Windows PC, and more. 1Password 7.7 was released for macOS users on Monday and comes with the new Unlock with Apple Watch feature. The latest version has not yet been uploaded to the Mac App Store, but you can find it on the company’s site.

There were two ways you could unlock 1Password depending on your Mac model: you could enter the password or use Touch ID on compatible Mac machines. Older MacBook models and even Mac desktops had to enter their 1Password code all the time. With the advent of the Unlock with Apple Watch feature, this will no longer be a necessity. Your Mac can now be unlocked just by using your Apple Watch.

To have this option enabled, users must be running macOS Catalina 10.15 or on a Mac with Secure Enclave (models with a T1, T2, or M1 chip). You’ll see an option in the 1Password preferences to turn on Unlock with Apple Watch along with the Touch ID option.

After setting up Unlock with Apple Watch, you will be notified every time you open 1Password on macOS. If you enable unlocking for Apple Watch and Touch ID, Touch ID will be used as the primary unlock method, although you will still receive a prompt to unlock with your Apple Watch.

The new update also offers superior integration with Safari. Similar to iCloud Keychain, 1Password can now check web pages in the background and automatically suggest passwords. The update also comes with a revamped design to match some of the changes in macOS Big Sur, as well as enhancements to protect the privacy of user data. See the full changelog.

1Password comes with a monthly subscription of $ 2.99 (roughly Rs. 200) among other plans.
