(Pocket-lint) – Shopping in 2020 for most of us might have changed beyond recognition, but that hasn’t stopped Apple from continuing to open new stores with stunning architecture around the world.
Apple is famous for its impressive stores, be it in the US, Europe or Asia. Whether they are purpose-built or adapted to older buildings, and whether you like Apple or not, you have to admit that it is like no other retail chain in the world.
That’s why we’ve chosen the most impressive stores around the world, including their latest store in Singapore. The new store, which opened in September 2020, is located at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and is the first Apple store to sit directly on the water.
Totally surrounded by water, Apple Marina Bay Sands offers store visitors uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic views of the city and its spectacular skyline while shopping for the latest iPhone.
Here are our favorite stores from around the world. How many have you been to?
Apple Dubai Mail, Dubai
Opened in April 2017 just a stone’s throw from the famous Burj Khalifa, the building designed by Foster + Partners features a 186-foot curved storefront and balcony overlooking the world’s tallest skyscraper and the nearby Dubai Fountain. In fact, Apple encourages its buyers to use the venue to see the spectacular nightly fountain shows in conjunction with the purchase of a Mac or iPhone. To cope with the intense heat, the tent is shaded by carbon fiber “solar wings” inspired by the traditional Arabic Mashrabiya to keep the tent cool and at 180 feet wide, the 18 panels make up one of the art installations. largest kinetic in the world.

The large double-height living room at Apple Schildergasse in Cologne features a suspended glass circular staircase. Launched in March 2017, Apple even went so far as to restore the historic facade.
Apple Park Visitor Center, Cupertino
Opened in November 2017, the Apple Park Visitor Center is located just outside the company’s headquarters in Cupertino. Although it is not as big as many of the Apple stores around the world, it is still a fully functioning store and sells Apple Park mechanics that you will not be able to find anywhere else. The cantilevered carbon fiber roof of the Visitor Center appears to float and is only supported by stone clad cores and not other strange columns for support. Visitors to the store will be able to explore Apple Park through a 3-D model of the campus brought to life by augmented reality on an iPad or iPhone. Guests can also go up to the rooftop terrace to enjoy views of the main campus. And yes, there is even a “Cafe Macs” from which you can work.
Apple Piazza Liberty, Milan
Right off Corso Vittorio Emanuele, one of Milan’s most popular pedestrian streets, this store has a glass fountain that serves both as an entrance to the store and as a backdrop to the large open-air amphitheater.
The square is open to the public 24 hours a day and there will be events throughout the year.
Apple Sanlitun, Beijing
Rebuilt on the basis of the original Apple store in Sanlitun, this new version is twice the size and is located in the open plaza of Taikoo Li in Sanlitun.
On the roof is a solar panel that will power the store below, which, like all Apple facilities around the world, runs exclusively on renewable energy.

Apple Central World, its second and largest retail location in Thailand.
The store is located in the heart of Ratchaprasong, Bangkok’s iconic intersection, and features a all glass design, housed under a cantilevered tree canopy roof.

Apple Michigan Avenue, Chicago
Opened in October 2017, the store, which is located on Pioneer Court, overlooks the Chicago River. Enclosed in glass, rather than trying to fight against the landscape, the store adopts the terrace design with two staircases on either side of the main shopping area and the Forum space on the ground floor.
Apple Union Square, San Francisco
Hopefully the Apple Store in Apple’s hometown will be something special, but instead of modernizing an old building like it does in many of its stores in Europe, the Union Square store is a modern, freestanding building in its own right. . Opened in May 2016, the store features 42-foot-tall sliding doors along the front of the storefront that allow people to seamlessly enter from Post Street and Union Square to enjoy the art-filled plaza that it offers seating, public Wi-Fi, a tall “green wall” and regular acoustic performances. Taking advantage of the California sun, the store runs on 100% renewable energy, including energy produced by photovoltaic panels embedded in the roof of the building.
Apple Marche Saint-Germain, Paris
Apple Marché Saint-Germain, the first Apple store on the left bank and the third in Paris. Opened in December 2016, the store is clad in Sebastopol Saint Maximin limestone. The site dates back to the 1400s, but Apple has recently moved.
