ESPN commits 300 runs to Waiter Alabama, Crimson Tide’s No. 1 class

ESPN Kemar Wheaton, who is running 300, is committed to Alabama on Wednesday, adding to the Crimson Tide’s No. 1-ranked recruitment class.

Wheaton is likely to rank 41st overall, 5ft-11, 195-pound behind Lakeview Centennial High School in Garland, Texas. He chose Alabama over Oklahoma, and Crimson Tide 20 offers ESPN 300 commitments.

It is the first time in this category for Alabama to commit to running, but it is the fifth ESPN 300 programmed in the last three categories.

His commitment gives Nick Saban and his staff seven commitments within the top 50 and 12 within the top 100. Prior to this commitment Tide already had a top-ranked class, but is now extending his lead over the state of Ohio.

Bookies have two Five Star Commitments and 17 ESPN 300 prospects. With this commitment, Alabama has three five-star futures in the class, 20 ESPN 300 commitments and a total of 25 commitments in the class.

Both programs will continue to jockey for No. 1 class signing status in February, but this addition will make it harder for Ohio State to capture Alabama.
