Epic Games Store finally gets achievements and Mod support

Epic Games Store is finally getting achievements and mod support. Epic Games Store users have been requesting achievements basically since the store launched in 2018 and it seems the feature is finally happening. Epic Games said on Twitter on July 29 that certain games will start showing achievements as they unlock, but did not mention which games it refers to.

“Certain games in the Epic Games Store may start showing achievements as you unlock them,” said the tweet. “This is an early version of the feature and you can expect to see changes and tweaks. We will have more information to share about future achievements, so stay tuned!”

Nothing more was said beyond that, but the tweet includes a quick video showing what a pop achievement looks like in a game released by the Epic Games Store. You can check it out below.

On the same day, it was announced that the Epic Games Store would begin supporting modifications, and that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries would be the first game on the platform to support them.

“We are very excited to announce that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is the first game to participate in the Mod Mods beta release from the Epic Games store,” MechWarrior 5 developer Piranha Games said in a blog post. “With this release, discovering and installing MW5 Mods created by the incredible modding community will be easier than ever, directly integrated into the existing Epic Game Launcher.”

As Piranha Games pointed out, the EGS mod feature is in beta. It is unknown at this time when the feature will be released from beta. Her blog post highlights some community-created mods that gamers can expect to use for MechWaroles 5. After taking a look, read up on how the Epic Games Store is the first real threat to Steam.
