Like many other things, Engadget’s annual trip to Las Vegas will skip a year as the CES 2021 in-person item is canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. As CTA chief Gary Shapiro said in a statement: “It is not possible to safely convene tens of thousands of people in Las Vegas in early January.”
Now, CES will be presented as an experience that we live from home. Unfortunately, some things just won’t be the same. Events like unexpected Android appearances and disinterested movie directors changing their lines are moments when you have to be there, and Zoom can’t help it. We’ll see if the organizers have something up their sleeve to bring the Las Vegas Convention Center feel to home, minus all the annual flu-like germs and symptoms. The CTA made the correct call.

Gogoro’s Eeyo 1s is so light you almost forgot it’s an electric bike

Gogoro, better known for his scooters than bicycles, surprised us with a light and practical electric bike that is (above all) a joy to drive. Complementing its carbon frame and fork with an alloy seatpost, handlebars and rims, the regular Gogoro Eeyo 1 costs $ 3,899. The lightest Eeyo 1s, almost entirely carbon, will set you back $ 4,599. That’s not crazy for a carbon fiber bike, but it’s a lot more than you would pay for a heavier electric bike option. Nick Summers takes it for a test drive.
