Neuralink will showcase a “working” device during its August 28 press conference.

Earlier this year, Elon Musk, SpaceX and Tesla (and reportedly) fourth richest person on the planet), plague he would show the latest developments from Neuralink, his startup company that aims to connect our brains to PCs. We knew the update was coming in August but now we have a time and live confirmation of webcast. Here’s when and how you can watch live.

The update is scheduled for Friday 28 August at 3 pm PT (6 pm ET), Twitter Musk Tuesday.

During an earlier plague back in February, Musk noted the following version of Neuralink would be “great” compared to what was presented during the first Neuralink press in July 2019. That conference was not overwhelming, but it showed that the Neuralink device has a long way to go before it is ready for prime time.

Musk said a “working device” will be shown during the Neuralink press release on Friday.

The YouTube channel of CNET Highlights has treated you as you would like to watch and we have embedded the livestream below. It should flicker to life just before the press starts at 3pm PT (6pm ET).

The central idea is to connect the brain with a computer by installing slim electrodes in the brain. They connect to a wireless pod that sits behind your ear and can communicate with your phone. In 2019, Musk said he hoped to have a device in a human patient by the end of the year, but that future did not come to be. Initially, it is hoped that the device can help people with brain and back wall injuries as well as congenital defects.

Musk has routinely said the Neuralink devices could be revolutionary. “Do not want to be overwhelmed, but the potential is truly transformative for restoring brain and motor functions,” he tweeted in February. Myriad questions remain, but hopefully we will get a better understanding of the device and how far it has come on Friday.
