Elon Musk hints that Tesla Cybertruck is amphibian, is he kidding?

Elon Musk is hinting that Tesla Cybertruck is practically amphibious and it is unclear if he is actually joking.

Musk sometimes makes comments about future Tesla products and features that may be difficult to judge.

For example, it was difficult to know if he was joking when he said that the next Tesla Roadster would be equipped with a cold-air thruster, but apparently that is happening.

Musk also confused people when he said that Tesla would launch a ‘fart app’ and that the Boring Company would sell a flamethrower, but both things happened.

Now, the CEO of Tesla has people confused about a comment he made regarding this render of a Cybertruck used as a ship by 3D artist Slav Popovski:

To republish the render on Twitter, Musk commented, “I think we could make that work.”

While the video doesn’t sound like something Cybertruck would do, it’s not too far-fetched based on previous comments made by Musk.

A few years ago, the CEO said the Model S could almost be used as a boat after a Tesla Model S was seen driving (or swimming) through a flooded tunnel, although the CEO made it clear that it is not recommended.

He said:

“We definitely don’t recommend this, but the Model S floats well enough to make it a boat for short periods of time. Push through the wheel rotation.

With the battery at the bottom sealed and waterproof, the vehicle can float for a few moments, but not like in the Cybertruck video.

Musk has also been fascinated with amphibious vehicles for a while.

A few years ago, the CEO bought the amphibian model Lotus Esprit used in the 1977 James Bond film ‘The spy who loved me‘.

Later, he said that Tesla would turn the model into a true amphibious electric vehicle that was thought a while ago and has not yet happened. Unless Musk has secretly done so and is using it to access his underwater villain lair.
