El Paso reaches 125 total virus deaths; 175 new cases reported

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – The El Paso Department of Public Health announced Thursday morning that three more people had died from Covid-19, bringing the county’s death toll to 125.

Authorities identified the victims as a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s and a woman in his 60s. They all had underlying health conditions.

With 175 new infections reported, there have now been triple-digit increases in cases in five of the last six days.

Since Saturday, there have been more than 800 new infections, and most of those involving El Pasoans were in their 20s and 30s, according to data from the health department.

El Paso has had 4,984 confirmed cases.

The health department reported that 3,465 El Pasoans had recovered as of Thursday, meaning there were 1,394 known active cases, a new record high.

There were 108 patients in El Paso hospitals with virus-related illnesses; 48 of those patients are in the ICU and 20 are on ventilators.
