E.L. PASO, Texas – City and health officials discussed two records of a chorionavirus-era soon after noon Thursday, calling them “deep concerns”: the highest number of new daily cases (3૨3) and the highest number of active infections at 4,929.
Leaders warned El Paso to beware of the situation of “covid fatigue”. Officials said many people leave their guards down and do not follow safety precautions, which is contributing to an increase in cases of the virus.
Mayor de Margo said most of the recent cases have spread to the community involved. When officials said the reasons for the spread were driven by the juggernaut, he cited travel and retail stores as the two biggest contributors.
The other key message from the briefing was Angela Morano, who was named as the director of the new El Paso health department early Thursday: “Answer your phone” because it could be a contact tracer.
Mora said health department employees are frustrated in their efforts to contact the case because some people do not answer their phones despite many calls, while others respond and are not cooperating – some are hanging tracers.
