Editing of the Year: Jamal Adams, Carlos Dunlap, Brandon Shell or DJ Reed

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Washington Football League on Sunday to advance to the playoffs. They play the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16, who have just lost the New York Jets, a fact we will bring endlessly. This week For years to come.

So it’s time to get rid of the stress and talk about this year’s general manager John Snyder’s three best moves.

Acquired only. No draft elections. Since we’re here, let’s try to make it more interesting than the “best angle”. If we just do that it goes:

  • Jamal Adams
  • Carlos Dunlap
  • Brandon Shell
  • DJ Reed

I asked a little in preparation for this, and this was strongly agreed. None of these play a similar position so it seems incredibly subjective. However, Adams is in another Pro Bowl. Dunlap will keep some Cincinnati Bengals franchise records for some time. Shell is the instant starter and the second or third best player on the offensive line, while Reed, surprisingly, fights to keep the starting lineup. I think the order is fair.

Think in four categories: talent, price, need, and future outlook.

The frontrunner

Jamal Adams.

The best statistics: 9.5 sacks when he improved his NFL record on the defensive back.

Price: Hands, also: feet.
(Two first-round picks and Bradley McDougall).

Challenger

Carlos Dunlap.

The best statistics: Two game-winning bags from just six games played. A total of five for Seattle. Hulk Smash + Superman Dive = You get a tweet.

Price: Second Finney and seventh round pick.

The Dark Horse

DJ Reed.

The best statistics: 1/1/3/6. It has one INT, one agile recovery, three pass defenses (!) And six total tackles. Also known as his game against the Washington football team. To be one of the best games a defensive player can have, you also get a tweet.

Price: I believe an email, plus a 582,000 contract. Reed was signed after San Francisco sat at home and the 49-year-old forgave him after a watch-the-post-season because he hadn’t been able to play for a few weeks.

Big cow

Brandon Shell. Shell deserves to be on this list and is a fierce rival for the most important ad, but is not currently playing (which has only helped his case). Its games absent are almost entirely consistent with Reed’s games that don’t focus on anything I just want to bring up.

The best statistics: 2.9% pressure clearance rate. Duane Brown’s 20% pressure on 3 693 snaps of%. %% pressure clearance rates is really a hurdle, solving both team’s best pass defenders.

Price: Two years 9 million, as free agent signature.

If we are working from the talent-ladder mentioned above, it connects to the surprise factor for every player. Adams’ is minimal; Reed is a bit.

For example, we all (who will hear about teams other than the Seahawks) knew that Jamal ams dummies are pretty crazy. Our surprise has been maybe we didn’t know it was This Good. At least, forward. Some are still under the impression It wasn’t worth it for him Because of its coverage. The surprise with Reed, on the other hand, is nice to return the kick, that he didn’t play a game, that he did some good plays, “Quinton Dunbar and / or Tray Flowers that we ride with the DJ”. .

Need. For this, I’m depicting a replacement by changing something over Bezab’s victory, but not the PFF version because that’s not it.

Jamal Adams: Third. The Seahawks had two early caliber safety, though not as talented or unique as Adams. They would have a secondary, but the teams would not be forced to plan the game as they do now.

Carlos Dunlap: First. Every defensive lineman was performing so hard that he was forced into Snyder’s hand if he wanted to take a serious look at the place. Now that Dunlap is here it is clear that this line is full of very good second and third rushers, and he needs a correct number.

Brandon Shell: Second. There was no other suitable solution and there was no one left. This one bothers me because I don’t believe Russell Wilson needs the right hull to be as good as Shell, but he makes sure that sometimes he behaves like this. Shell had a replacement … This was exactly last Sunday, but Wilson still played like a sack, at random moments.

DJ Reed: Fourth. Seattle has three corners more predictable than Reed, but now two have been injured and he has questioned us all. This was not supposed to be a weakness after the Dumbar trade, but here we are still praising it nonetheless. At the end of the day, play the best guy and this time it’s Reed.

For treatment, this is how I ranked all these people so I could drown later.

Talent

Adams – 1
Dunlap – 2
Shell – 3
Reed – 4

Price

Reed -.
Shell – 2
Dunlap – 3
Adams – 4

is needed

Dunlap -.
Shell – 2
Adams – 3
Reed – 4

Future Outlook

Here’s the deal. Who knows any of this. Each of these guys will finish this season and should be on the roster next year with something strange left.

Adams – He is a perennial pro bowler on a rookie contract. It’s one of the NFL’s best deals this year. Next year, it will be on the fifth year option – still nice. After that, it will be a bit of a stretch, but I think the Seahawks want to be special defensive players and they enjoy it very clearly here.

Dunlap – The fact that he rescheduled his contract was great for short-term team-friendship. It allowed him to come here quickly, and it makes it more likely that he will stay next season, a close guarantee this time around. However after that, he will turn 33 and looks like the team will pay big money.

Reed – Now that he’s here, he’s definitely coming next year, and the biggest risk at the moment is playing himself out of their prices. Retaining Dunbar or Schwartz Griffin is not guaranteed at this point, and Reed may not have enough game time to pay the price for himself outside of Seattle.

Shell – He’ll turn 30 when he’s ready for a new contract, and the Seahawks are bad at drafting a lineman who just hasn’t named Damien Lewis. If he plays like this year and doesn’t pay much time, they should keep it.

Here’s how those numbers came out from above. A low score is best, because it’s better to be the first of the four.

Dunlap – 6

Shell – 7

Adams – 8

Reed – 9

So close Add to the probability that the player will continue to contribute in the future and present John Snyder’s Best Edition of 2020.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
