Wolfgang, son of Eddie Van Halen, mourned his father’s death and what it was like to live with him until his final years.
Wolfgang, 29, sat down for an interview with Howard Stern for his SiriusXM show where he described his current condition as “horrible”, revealing his father’s loss. Although he is trying to process the situation, he noted that he is grateful for the foreign treatment done by Van Helen Frontman, who gave him more time with his father than the doctors estimated.
“In late 2017, he was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer and the doctors were like, ‘You have six weeks,'” he told Stern. “And then he went to Germany overseas. Whatever he does there — it’s amazing because I’ve met him for three more years.”
Wolfgang was the one who confirmed the news of his father’s death with a note on Twitter last month.

“I believe I don’t have to write this, but my father, Edward Lodevic van Halen, lost his long and fierce battle with cancer this morning,” H.e was written at the time.
Wolfe continued at the time, “He was the best dad I could ever ask for. Every moment I shared with him on stage and on stage was a gift,” Wolfe continued at the time. “My heart is broken and I don’t think I will ever recover from this loss.”
Now, at the end, the guitarist’s son is performing his music, most recently at the end of which he performed a song called “Distance” in tribute to his father, which was partly written before his death. Stern noted that since Wolfgang and AD have shared a musical bond, the song is an incredibly moving tribute from a son to his father.
“This is that gift and its curse, that we had so much ga connection and now there’s no way for the rest of my life that I can’t think about it, no matter what I do, which is good, but it’s also very sad Delivers, ”Wolfgang explained.
Van Helen’s former manager tells everyone in a new memoir
Elsewhere in the interview, the 29-year-old musician noted that it has been difficult to deal with fans for some time now who want nothing more than to see new music and travel.
“I used to rehearse in late 2018 but things happen and it’s like, ‘Do I have to go on tour for an 18 month cycle or do I want to be with my dad?’ And I think I’ve made the right choice, “he said. “People have no idea what’s going on at any given time. And people are giving me S — because it’s taken so long to put my album. If you had an idea, you guys would feel like it–” – “
He dispelled rumors that he would reunite with the rest of Van Halen’s members and replace his dad on the tour.

“You can’t have Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen and I’m not my dad. I’m not going to change that. I have spent my life making sure my life is not like hers and I am my own person. My dad, again, he’ll be P — Ed. It’s like – what will you be like? Wolf spoke.
