In 1988, Eddie Murphy starred America is coming, John Landis-directed Come Come Madi in which Murphy played the role of Prince Akim Joffer, the Crown Prince of the African nation, Jamunda. Pampered all his life, Akim began to learn film that he would enter into an arranged marriage. Unhappy with not being able to make his own decisions, Akim and his friend Sammy (Arsenio Hall) move to New York City, where Akim stays secret like a normal person and seeks true love. The film was a huge success – grossing a total of 8 288 million worldwide at box office fees – and continued to strengthen Murphy as a true film star. Now, more than 30 years later, Murphy is returning to his role 2 comes to America. Here is the summary:
Established in the joyous and royal country of Zamunda, the newly crowned King Akim (Eddie Murphy) and his faithful Sammy (Arsenio Hall) begin a new joyous adventure as they move from their great African nation to the Borough. Queens, New York – where it all started.

After the events of the first film, former Prince Akim Joffer (Eddie Murphy) will become the king of Zamunda when he realizes that he has a son whom he never knew in America – a street savvy Queens native, Lavelle (Jermaine Fowler). After the death of his royal father (James Earl Jones), the son was crowned prince, Akim and Sammy (Arsenio Hall) and wished to return to America.
In addition to returning players, 2 comes to America Also features Wesley Snaps, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, Kiki Lane, Nomzamo Mabtha and Tiana Taylor. Official plans for the sequel were first announced back in 2017, although it has not been confirmed whether Murphy will return. But in 2019, Murphy’s involvement became official. Will this long-awaited follow-up go along with the original? I guess we’ll see, but last year’s awesome Dolamite is my name Confirmed that Murphy’s ridiculous time is still pitch-perfect, so I have no doubt 2 comes to America Will laugh.
At one point, there was a plan to introduce 2 comes to America Strictly in theaters, but Paramount eventually worked to make the film premiere on Amazon Prime Video (which will still open in theaters in some countries). Look at it on Amazon March 5, 2021.
