Earl Thomas signing makes too much sense

Former All-Pro safety Earl Thomas was released on Sunday by the Baltimore Ravens. The Dallas Cowboys are considered the ‘heavy favorites’.

The Baltimore Ravens decided to share ways with safety Earl Thomas on Sunday. They released Thomas because of personal behavior that was detrimental to the team. This comes after Thomas was sent home from practice Friday for an altercation involving former Ravens teammate Chuck Clark.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys are the leading candidates for Earl Thomas after they were officially released by the Ravens. This is no surprise to Cowboys fans, as Thomas is linked with Dallas until 2018.

Thomas is a native of Texas and has expressed a desire to play for his home team, the team he was a fan of all his life before he was drafted into the NFL.

How Earl Thomas fits the Dallas Cowboys

Thomas, who is currently 31 years old, had a pretty average season for the Ravens in 2019. He started 15 games for the team and had 49 total tackles, two interceptions, 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Throughout his career, Thomas has made seven Pro Bowls and has cemented his legacy as one of the best safflowers in NFL history.

Thomas fits perfectly with what the Dallas Cowboys need in the NFL season 2020. The Cowboys have built a great first seven on the defensive front. Their only question mark in the season is their boy continued. While Thomas is certainly at the back end of his career, he delivers a tremendous veteran presence for this young secondary and delivers a player in the back of the defense.

If the Dallas Cowboys could sign Earl Thomas on a one-year contract with heavy incentives, they would certainly have to maintain the idea. The Cowboys have the potential to compete for a Super Bowl this season given their enormously talented tackles and successful coaching staff. Thomas signing just gives the Cowboys a better chance to play in 2020.
