The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing veteran offensive lineman Jason Peters back on a one-year contract.
The deal has $ 3 million in guarantees and is worth up to $ 6 million, according to Adam Schefter.
Peters, 38, has been named to nine Pro Bowls during his 16-year career with the Eagles and Buffalo Bills.
The Eagles believe Peters, his outstanding left tackle for the past 11 seasons, can transition to the right guard to fill the void left by Brandon Brooks, who is out for the year with a broken Achilles.
Add depth and overall versatility with the ability to be your swing tackle too.
Andre Dillard, the team’s first-round pick in 2019, is expected to start as a left tackle. He was up and down during his four starts as a rookie, leaving questions to some internally if he was ready to take on the role full time.
While Dillard is credited with adding strength this offseason and receiving praise from the coaching staff for his efforts in recent months, Peters does provide an insurance policy in the event that Dillard is unable to sufficiently protect Carson Wentz’s blind side. .
