Eagles places 3 players on reserve / COVID-19 with Lane Johnson confirming positive test

The Philadelphia Eagles placed three players on the reserve / COVID-19 list, according to an official team announcement. They are: starting right tackle Lane Johnson, starting linebacker Nathan Gerry and offensive tackle Jordan Mailata.

The Eagles further explained this designation:

The Reserve / COVID-19 list was created for a player who tested positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with an infected person or persons. Per NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs cannot comment on a player’s medical condition other than referring to the roster status.

Johnson confirmed that he tested positive for the coronavirus. He is the first known Eagles player to contract the disease.

It is currently unclear whether Gerry and Mailata also tested positive. Obviously, this trio will have to be eliminated before they are allowed to return to the team.

The Eagles players performed at the NovaCare Complex for the first round of COVID-19 tests and trials on Tuesday. Players will return to the facilities for the second round on Friday.
