At age 30, the Eagles have been facing defensive tackle Malik Jackson for a time or two. It’s a real pro.
And to win Sunday night’s 49th match, Jackson combined his experience with a true genius P his move during the dramatic final minutes.
On the 1-yard line and with the ball by the Eagles 11, the game’s refs were trying to get out exactly where 49 footers tried to punch the ball into the final zone.
When the Rafs walked off the ball for just a second to speak with the other members of his crew, Jackson sighed:
It’s some of Jackson’s next-level defensive game. I wonder if this is Jim Schwartz’s strategy, or if Jackson has brought along one of his previous stops around the league. It’s just subtle enough.
And he’s talented, because if the 49ers offensive lineman tried to push him back, I’d bet at least one ref would have turned around and watched the reactionary game, and then move him to where Jackson knocked him down. Really bright.
Former Eagles linebacker and current NFL commentator Emanuel Echo was involved with some real NFL savvy:
It’s just cheating if you get caught, right?
Every inch is important in Sunday night’s win, including this one.
