Pederson couldn’t avoid that question Monday morning when he called the Philly Sports Talk radio station WWWIP. He was asked a question that has been floating around in the heads of many Eagles fans for weeks now, and he answered it.

The Padres put their full weight behind Wentz and the idea of starting backup Jalen Hurtz instead of a star quarterback would not entertain. He is confident Wentz will come out of his joke – a lack of confidence and assurance that has now lasted three weeks – and become a quarterback who received an extension of 128 8,128 million four years ago, about 16 months ago.
Eagles fans, of course, are not just swept away, but they want whatever they have that they already have. Those who consistently called for Super Bowl LII hero Nick Falls to become Philly’s permanent starting QB are now calling for a second-round draft pick Hurt to replace Wentz.
Those guys will never be happy with Wentz, but Wentz’s game in the first three weeks of the season can’t help them. Pederson can defend Ventz until the cow comes home, but Ventz himself is the only one to silence the suspects.

Pederson apologizes for ponting for a tie
There is not a single reason the Eagles are 0-2-1, there are many, many, many reasons. It’s the crime, it’s the defense, it’s the vents, it’s the injuries, it’s the training staff, it’s the plans, it’s the calling gender, the list can be continued. Of all the team’s shortcomings in the performance on Sunday, the play calling gender was the most stuck.
Faced fourth-and-12 in overtime after the penalty moved their field goal effort to an obscure distance, the Padres did nothing like the courageous head coach who called Philly Special at the crucial moment of Super Bowl LII. Instead of trying to get Wentz down first to lengthen the drive, the Peders chose to pont with only 19 seconds left in overtime.
It was a surprising decision, especially since there was almost no time left. There was little to lose. Analysts were strongly on the side of letting Ventage try to bring it down or touchdown. But the Peders chose to play in a rather desperately safe way, a decision he now regrets.

The Eagles seem completely out of place, and Pederson’s decision to knock for a tie is symbolic. They need to snatch everything back and they need to remember what made them so successful in 2017 and 2018. And if they want a chance at the playoffs in 2020, they do it faster, because they’re running out of time.
