Dustin Poirier, Dan Hooker set a record


The UFC on ESPN 12 wrapped up the promotion’s five-week stretch of events at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, and the card provided some historic moments.

Dustin Poirier (26-6 MMA, 18-5 UFC) joined his legend in the main event when he produced another classic for his resume in the form of a unanimous decision victory over Dan Hooker (20-9 MMA, 10-5 UFC). , who played all five rounds despite falling short on the scorecards.

The UFC on ESPN 12 featured four submission finals in the third round, tied with UFC Fight Night 89 for the UFC record for a single event.

Poirier and Hooker combined for a total of 390 punches, the single-fight record for a light UFC bout. Poirier vs. Max Holloway at UFC 236 held the previous record with 388.

Hooker has dropped to 7-2 since he moved to the UFC lightweight division in June 2017.

Hooker has suffered four of his five UFC loss by decision.

Mike Perry (14-6 MMA, 7-6 UFC) has had his last three decision wins after starting his career with 11 stops.

Mickey Gall (6-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) has alternated wins and losses in his last six fights.

Gall has suffered two of his three career loss by decision.

Maurice Greene (9-4 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has had seven of his nine career career wins by arrest. That includes three of his four UFC victories.

Greene became the second fighter in UFC history to earn an arm triangle choke submission victory from the bottom position. Aljamain Sterling also accomplished the feat.

Gian Villante (17-12 MMA, 7-9 UFC) was unsuccessful in his UFC heavyweight debut.

Villante has remained winless in heavyweight competition since February 2011. He dropped to 6-2 when fighting in the weight class.

Villante fell to 2-5 in his last seven UFC appearances since May 2017.

Villante suffered the first loss of submission of his career.

Kyle Daukaus (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) broke his nine-fight winning streak for the first loss of his career.

Takashi Sato (16-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has had 13 of his 16 career career wins by arrest. His two UFC victories are by knockout.

Jason Witt (17-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has suffered all six career losses from unemployment.

Erosa (23-8 MMA, 2-4 UFC) was successful in her return to the UFC for a third period. He earned his first promotion win since December 2015.

Erosa broke her three-fight losing skid for her first win since June 2018.

Sean Woodson (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had his seven-fight winning streak interrupted by his first career loss.

Khama Worthy (14-6 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has had both of his UFC victories by arrest.

Luis Peña (8-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Philipe Lins (15-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has suffered four of his five career losses in detention.

Lins has suffered all four of his career losses by knockout.

Hansen (7-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has had six of his seven career career wins by arrest.

Jinh Yu Frey (9-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first loss of submission of his career.

Youssef Zalal (9-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has earned both of his UFC victories by decision.

Jordan Griffin (18-8 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered all three UFC losses by decision.
