Drew Bryce announces retirement from NFL



Drew Bryce is heading from the Superdome to the Golden Dome.

A day after the announcement of his retirement from the NFL, the quarterback joined NBC Sports on Great Monday. He will work as a Notre Dame sports analyst as well as from the studio during Sunday night’s “Football Night in America.”

“I am just happy to be back. I’m excited to be closely associated with the game of football, which has been such an important part of my life, “said Bryce, appearing on the” Today “show. “And I continue to be able to talk about it and show passion for it and bring my kids along for a ride there, and let them be a part of some of those special moments.”

It will also be part of NBC’s coverage of next year’s Super Bowl, as well as its role in network coverage of other events, including the Olympics. Last year the NFL career Passing Yards leader agreed to join NBC, when his athletic career ended.

Drew Bryce will serve as an analyst at Notre Dame football games and will also work on “Football Night in the US” on Sunday.

“We know Drew will apply the same ethical and consistently positive attitude toward whatever he touches on NBC Sports,” NBC Sports President Pete Bewakwa said in a statement. “And we know, as his new ally, he’ll make us better.”

Bryce is expected to work with Mike Tiriko at the Notre Dame Games, but he could call the booth NFL games down the line. Al Michaels and Chris Klinsworth have been a team since 2009, but Michaels could retire after the Super Bowl 56 in Los Angeles in February.

Bryce also announced that he plans to be involved in philanthropic efforts, particularly in New Orleans. Bryce, who joined the Saints in 2006 after five seasons with the San Diego Chargers, was named Warlord Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2006 and led the franchise to the championship in 2009.
