Drew Barrymore confirms rumor that her grandfather’s body was stolen for ‘one last party’

Drew Barrymore has confirmed a long-standing rumor that her grandfather’s body was taken from the morgue by friends for one last night of parties.

In an interview with the YouTube channel Hot Ones, de Santa Clarita diet star said three friends of actor John Barrymore stole his body after his death in 1942 and stabbed it against a poker table.

The younger Barrymore confirmed that Hollywood legend Errol Flynn, cabaret artist WC Fields and poet and anarchist Sadakichi Hartmann were behind the stunt.

“I hope my friends do the same for me,” the 45-year-old actress said.

‘That’s the kind of mind I can put behind me. Just support the old bag and do the last few rounds.

“I think death comes with so much morose sadness, and I understand that, but if it’s okay, just with me, if everyone can be really happy and festive and have a party, that would be my preference.”

Barrymore also revealed that a scene in Julie Andrews’ comedy SOB was inspired by her grandfather’s last party and said she heard he might have inspired the 1989 black comedy film Weekend at Bernie’s.

In the same interview, Barrymore said she lobbyed to play a small role in the slasher of the 1990s Scream and for killing her character in the opening scene.

She said, ‘In the horror film genre, my biggest pet peeve was that I always knew the main character would always sneak in at the end, but it would creep up and make it.

‘What I wanted to do was remove that comfort zone. I asked if I could be Casey Becker, so we found out that the rule does not apply in this movie. ”

Barrymore got her wish and was murdered by Ghostface in the opening scene, with Neve Campbell starring Sidney Prescott.

The actor is currently promoting her own talk show, which launches across the US in September and concentrates on positives.
