Dr. Siegel: Trump’s COVID-19 News Conference May Address FDA ‘Eyebrow Raising’ on Anti-Body Treatments

President Trump will at a briefing Sunday discover a coronavirus treatment “breakthrough”, and Fox News medical staff Dr. Marc Siegel waited to see what the development could potentially be based on the many studies currently underway to combat the virus.

Siegel told “Fox & Friends” that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which did not issue emergency use authorizations for anti-fog treatments, “had eyebrows” and could be a topic of conversation because the president recently raised concerns about the FDA. politics. “

“The FDA has delayed an emergency use authorization on convalescent plasma,” he said. ‘Well, that’s the plasma as the antibodies you get when you get over COVID-19. And the fact is that these types of antibodies have been used successfully for more than 100 years for other diseases. And a Houston Methodist study of 300 patients … just showed a dramatic impact in keeping people alive longer. ”

“I’m not sure that’s what the president will discuss, but it’s on the table,” he said.

On Saturday, the president suggested that someone at the FDA deliberately tried to delay clinical trials for therapeutics and vaccines for political purposes.

“Obviously, they hope to delay the response until after November 3,” Trump tweeted, referring to election day. “Must focus on speed, and saving lives!”

The president did not elaborate on the accusation or provide any evidence.

Siegel also talks about schools reopening, saying his own son will return to school, where tents will be set up outside to replace classrooms.
