OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Here is a summary of new cases and other COVID-19 statistics reported today by health officials in Nebraska and Iowa.
Iowa health authorities said Sunday that a “significant number” of coronavirus tests were not reported over the weekend due to a delay in the department’s electronic reporting system.
The Iowa Department of Public Health said its COVID-19 website will continue to update, noting in a press release that last week’s daily case counts will adjust as it processes the delay.
KCCI-TV reported that as of 10 am Sunday, the Iowa website had confirmed 661 additional cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of positive cases to 38,564 since the outbreak began.
Seven additional COVID-19 deaths brought the state’s death toll to 792.
The Douglas County Health Department reported 25 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the county’s total number of cases to 8,742.
No new death certificates related to COVID-19 were reported to DCHD. The county’s death toll remains 113.
The number of coronavirus recoveries in the county is 5,614.
Area hospitals through Saturday reported that 251 medical and surgical beds were available for an occupancy rate of 81 percent. There were 71 hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and of 363 ventilators available, 134 were in use, including 16 used by patients with COVID-19.
The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced Saturday that 29 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in its area, bringing the total number of Lancaster County cases to 2,430.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Lancaster County remains at 14.
