Doug Pederson admits what he should do on a 2-point conversion

On Monday morning Dedig Pederson went to the 94WIP Morning Show and admitted that he should have called for a timeout before the Eagles’ bad-phased two-point change of late in Sunday’s 30-28 loss.

The Eagles made a touchdown only after a 2 minute warning but their two-point conversion failed and they lost by two.

“I look at it today and I believe I have an expiration date in that situation,” Peders said Monday morning. “I think the best call might be the time to really think through things. From a coaching standpoint, at least give us more time to make a better decision at that time. “

This is the second time in four weeks that Pederson went to the WIP Morning Show on Monday and admitted the mistake. He is week-201. I did the same after killing Tiny’s fight against the Bengals.

The Eagles had just finished their third time in the pocket at the end of Sunday’s game but instead their call came in the end, rushing to the line and running the play that felt dubious. They were running a zone behind the offensive line in Shemball and walking without their start.

The appearance of Ravens alone should be sufficient to call for an expiration date.

If the Padres had taken the deadline, perhaps he would have realized that it was a situation where he needed to try to tie the game to Carson Wentz. Wentz just led the Eagles down the field, running around and making plays to put them in that position.

Pederson was asked Monday morning if Wentz had the right to call a timeout there as well.

“Yeah, it could be,” Pedersen said. “But I don’t expect it … It’s our job to make our players succeed or at least try to succeed. He has, apparently, the quarterback and head coach the two guys who can do it. It falls on me to run down there and do it. “

Although the Eagles did not call a deadline, they had more time to think about what game to play for the two-point effort. Before the Wentz 1-yard touchdown ran to pull them both inside, the Eagles had a 2-minute warning. The Padres said Monday that at the time the Eagles already knew what game they wanted to play for the two-point effort. That was just wrong, especially against the Ravens look.

The Padres said Monday that at that stage of the game the Eagles had actually already emptied the red zone plays on his call sheet so they started taking some plays from other parts of the sheet.

Pederson’s call was not very good in that situation. If she had given him a little more time on the field to think about it, he probably would have realized it.
