Sony will explore the expansion of its first-party titles on PCs, as it will “promote further growth in our profits”. After the recent release of Horizon Zero Dawn on Steam, Tidbit shouldn’t be a big surprise, but it’s not particularly likely to sit well with long-time fans who think the PlayStation could lose a competitive advantage.
The manufacturer will need to increase the weight of the items, but we cannot imagine that there is a lot of damage in the experiment. There are potential profits to be made from the lucrative PC market, but it will be necessary to determine what kind of costs are involved. Some argue that the Japanese giant is distilling its biggest selling point by making key titles available elsewhere.
We believe there is no real loss in this, as long-term releases are unlikely to be ported as their sales route is completed. As such, it could really help raise the profile of some of its brands, taking more people back to the PlayStation as new installments in franchise launches. How do you feel about all this?
