Donald Trump He was reportedly invited to launch a first pitch at Yankees Stadium in a fit of jealousy over Dr. Anthony Fauci … and he was forced to cancel it when he couldn’t make it happen.
Multiple sources familiar with the situation told The New York Times That’s how it happened when POTUS made the surprising announcement last week that it would launch a ceremonial first pitch for the Yankees on August 15.

According to the report, Trump was so upset by the attention Fauci was receiving before his first release Last Thursday, in the National Park, on opening day, he informed employees to call the Yankees to take him to the mound.
The NYT says that BOTH Yankees and White House staff were shocked by Trump’s wishes … and never officially closed an appointment despite Trump saying yes.
Of course, Donald, who had reportedly already booked elsewhere for August 15, pulled out of the event just days after the announcement … saying in a tweet that his focus on the coronavirus would not allow him to do so.
Trump added: “We will make it later in the season!”
Donald has never released a first pitch since he took office in 2016 … but the Times says he HAS a long informal offer from the Yankees team president to pitch one for them at some point.
Trump has always said that he used to be a great baseball player, saying he had professional potential in his youth, although the video of his time on the diamond has yet to appear.
