Dominik Mysterio on Why He Took the Kendo Stick Beating From Seth Rollins and Murphy

Dominik Mysterio will make his in-ring debut for WWE this Sunday on the SummerSlam happened in a Street Fight against Seth Rollins. But before that game itself starts, Mysterio has already proved to fans that he can resist a serious knockout. A few weeks back he won from the corner by Rollins and Murphy and took 30 shots from kendo sticks while being tied at the knees. WWE then posted a photo of Mysterio backstage, in which the young man’s chest and back were covered with red clouds. Mysterio came up De Bump this week to say that his wounds had healed.

Rey Mysterio’s son also said he took “great pride” in being able to resist the attack, which seems to indicate why he agreed to continue with the segment in the first place.

“I was raised very old school, so those wounds, I’m proud of. The fact that I went out there and hit, but I came back and gave a slap back, it says a lot about how I can manage pain, “Mysterio said.

The 23-year-old has trained under his father, Rey Mysterio, as well as Konnan, Ring of Honor’s Jay Lethal and former WWE / WCW star Lance Storm. In a separate interview with ESPN, he and Rey revealed that he intends to become a masked luchador and wrestle under the name Prince Mysterio in the future.

“We actually talked about it. He absolutely must continue with the Mysterio dynasty. It’s in his genes,” Rey told the outlet. “I think we’ll finally pick that up and make a good story so fans can live the rich history behind lucha libre and understand the masks.”

“I have always wanted to wear a mask because of tradition. It is important to continue that tradition,” Dominik added. “Now that my face is there, I think it just needs to be introduced a little bit differently so that people understand. I absolutely want to wear one, but it needs to be properly implemented.”
