Dollar General to open new stores targeting wealthy shoppers

The company is launching its first two popshelf stores in Nashville next week, and plans to open 30 more by the end of next year.

New stores are opening at a difficult time for retailers – especially brick and mortar stores that were forced to close during the epidemic. But for millions of Americans, Dollar General is in good shape as a bargaining chip in times of economic uncertainty.

The second quarter, which ended on July 1, saw more than 116,000 stores sell more than 168,000 discount chains in at least one year. The company’s stores, which were deemed essential, have remained open during the epidemic.

The new stores offer a range of home and beauty items, most of which will cost around $ 5. The company said popshelf stores target women in suburban areas who earn between, 50,000 and 125 125,000 a year.

PopShelf customers can expect to find “amazing deals” with seasonal specials and limited-time items, the company says. Each store will be about 9,000 square feet, which will make them larger than Deller General’s regular convenience stores.
