The company released the recall after samples from a single bag of the product were tested, along with a positive sample test for salmonella by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. To date no diseases have been reported.

“Pay firm tested multiple samples of the same flour, which tested negative for Salmonella. The federal agency explained that distributed Lmonella is not evenly distributed in large numbers, which is why it would have been found on the basis of a single sample, not on many identical samples.

Nonetheless, Sunshine Mills recalled some of the food “with great caution”.

Pets infected with Salmonella may be lethargic and may have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.

“Some pets will have less appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian, ”the FDA said in announcing the recall.

In humans, salmonella infections usually last up to six days with abdominal cramps, fever, and diarrhea. While most people recover without treatment, sometimes serious illnesses need to be hospitalized because the infection spreads from the intestines to the bloodstream and then elsewhere in the body.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that your healthcare provider show symptoms such as high fever (above 102 ° F), diarrhea, and blood in stools or frequent vomiting.
