The Democratic National Convention raised eyebrows right out of the gate with actress Eva Longoria who aired the first night of the virtual event.
Longoria was one of four celebrities to serve as a guide from segment to segment and speaker to speaker on each of the four nights, the other three being Kerry Washington, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss.
After recently addressing home viewers, Longoria conducted remote interviews with four ordinary Americans.
However, their hosting tasks did not receive the warmest welcome on social media.

“Brilliant movement! No one is more in touch with the challenges and obstacles facing everyday Americans than actors and celebrities,” said Senator Marco Rubio, R-Flor.
“When I think of the one who is best positioned in the United States to present a major party’s nominating covenant, the first person to come to the fore is certainly Eva Longoria,” said journalist Michael Tracey.
“Should I know why Eva Longoria is moderating?” writer Matt Taibbi asked.
“Eva Longoria’s formula is very good: suggest a representative of a pampered group; ask them how they are; after they respond, say ‘I’m sure others [members of pandered group] feel the same. “Keep going until it’s over,” wrote podcast host Katie Halper.
“But seriously, at this rate, will Scott Baio celebrate the 2024 Democratic Convention?” progressive commentator Nomiki Konst tweeted.
