Discord and Riot Games services appear to be part of a Cloudflare server outage that was removed from various websites and apps on Friday afternoon.
“Users are currently having trouble disconnecting from Discord due to an internet problem,” Discord tweeted from his official account. “We have all the engineers on deck investigating the problem.”

In later tweets, Discord representatives on Twitter said it appeared to be “a Cloudflare problem” that is also affecting other parts of the Internet. Cloudflare is a provider of DDoS protection. Shortly after the services went offline, Cloudflare tweeted that it is “aware that some regions may be experiencing problems with some Cloudflare services” and are “currently investigating.” In a post on its website, Cloudflare said “the problem has been identified and a solution is being implemented.”
Valorant Developer Riot Games also tweeted that it is “aware of service disruptions affecting VALORANT games (among other things).” Patreon, Phoenix Labs’ Bold, Medium and many other services seem to be affected.
At the time of writing, some services seem to be getting back online.
Update, 7:15 pm EDT: All services seem to be back online. A Cloudflare spokesperson sent the following statement to Polygon:
This afternoon we saw an interruption in some parts of our network. It was not as a result of an attack. It appears that a router on our global backbone network advertised incorrect routes and caused some parts of the network to be unavailable. We believe we have addressed the root cause and monitoring systems for stability now.
