The rescue champion is still alive. Late Wednesday night, the Toronto Raptors escaped with a 125-122 double-overtime win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of their second-round series. All things are tied at 3-3 following that instant classic, with both teams playing Game 7 on Friday night.
There were plenty of talking points, but one of the biggest ones involved in iFisiting. In particular, one of the biggest moments came at the end of the fourth quarter. With the score closing at 98-98 and less than a minute left, Jayson Tatum went to the basket and tried to kick the ball near Daniel Thiss in the corner.
Instead, he turned it, throwing the ball in the direction of Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, who jumped out of the way. We’ve seen moments before where side movements distract players or do tricks, but this case was significant because he was the coach of the opposing team, and the nurse was also on the court.
As you can see in the clip above, the nurse – who is very active on the side – was also standing with her legs outstretched in the corner of the foot deep. The referees did not say or do anything about it, but the incident arose on a TV broadcast, and became a topic of discussion on social media.
After the game, the Celtics were divided over whether there would be a turnover by the nurses in the locker room. Tatum, whose opinion is most important here, Said“It was my fault. Nick can’t blame the nurse. He’s not playing.” His teammate Jillian Brown, however, was not happy with the coach’s opposition: “Grown-ups, especially the coaching staff, should be able to control themselves.”
Whether the nurse’s presence fooled Tatum into making that pass, it’s clear he shouldn’t be there during the game, and it’ll be interesting to see if the league makes any comments.
At the same time, the Celtics still had a chance to win in regulation, and the double overtime increased by more than four, so it didn’t run out of game decision.
