DHSS reports new COVID-19 death; 88 new cases of COVID-19 among Alaska residents

DHSS today announced 115 new people with COVID-19 in Alaska and one new death. 88 are residents in 21 communities: Anchorage (48), Wasilla (6), Fairbanks (5), Palmer (4), Arctic Northwest District (3), Soldotna (3) Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area (3), Córdoba (2)), Seward (2) and one at Eagle River, Ester, Haines, Juneau, Kenai, Kenai Peninsula Borough (North), Kotzebue, North Pole, Sterling, Valdez (royal residence is Kenai; will be updated in a count of future cases)), Unalaska and the Valdez-Córdoba census area.

27 new non-residents were also identified in:

  • Kenai Peninsula: 22 fishing industry (Seward); 1 other (Kenai)
  • Unknown region: 2 fishing industry; 1 tourism; 1 unknown (under investigation)

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Alaska State Department of Health and Social Services has reported one new death and 88 new cases of COVID-19 among Alaska residents; 115 total cases.

DHSS reports that 530 non-residents tested positive for COVID-19, an increase of 31 from Friday. The total count of resident cases is 2,338.

DHSS reports that the cases recovered are at 815, with 1,503 cases active. Additionally, there are 115 total hospitalizations and to date, 20 Alaskaans have died with COVID-19 since March 2020.

The new case counts are outside the following areas of the state:

  • Anchorage Township (47)
  • Fairbanks North Star District (7)
  • Kenai Peninsula District (8)
  • Juneau City and District (1)
  • Matanuska-Susitna Municipality (9)
  • Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area (3)
  • Northwest Arctic District (4)
  • Haines District (1)
  • Valdez-Córdoba Census Area (4)
  • Western Aleutian Census Area (1)
