DHSS Announces New COVID-19 Cases; the total number of cases in Alaska reached 904


ANCHOR, Alaska (KTUU) – The state of Alaska has announced 25 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Alaska. There are 21 new resident cases and four new non-resident cases.

The 21 new resident cases bring the state’s total to 904 cases. Of that total, 365 cases are still considered active and 525 have been recovered. New cases of residents were reported in eight communities:

  • Seward: 8
  • Anchor: 6
  • Fairbanks: 1
  • Willow: 2
  • Eagle River: 1
  • North Pole: 1
  • Nome census area: 1
  • Wasilla: 1

The Department of Health and Social Services says about 107,709 tests have been done for COVID-19 in Alaska.

No new deaths were reported in the state’s COVID-19 Data Center. Fourteen Alaska residents have died with COVID-19 since March.

The state reports that 16 Alaska residents are currently hospitalized or suspected of having COVID-19. In total, the total number of hospitalizations is 67. The four new cases of non-residents were reported in three regions.

  • Mat-Su Municipality: 1

A total of 183 non-residents have tested positive for COVID-19.

This article has been updated correcting information previously published by DHSS that stated that a non-resident case was identified in Fairbanks. That case was actually identified in the Mat-Su district.
