Dez Bryant will leave Ravens’ training camp without a contract

The Dez Bryant training session in Baltimore concluded without the former Dallas Cowboys receiver joining the Ravens.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, NFL Network, reported Thursday that Bryant is expected to leave without a deal, and nothing is difficult, per sources informed of the situation.

Neither side has ruled out a deal later, but there will be no direct move from the Ravens’ side.

Bryant traveled to Baltimore this week, took COVID-19 tests, and worked out for the team Thursday.

The former Cowboys All-Pro has not snapped a regular season since 2017. He signed in Mid Orlé mid-2018 briefly in New Orleans, but tore his Achilles two days later. Bryant launched the entire 2019 campaign.

When Bryant turned 32 in November, Bryant lost a step during the end of his run in Dallas and could not separate from defensive backs as he did during his prime. The reduced speed led to a sharing of ways with the Cowboys.

Bryant has continued to work out and stay in shape in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and even closed sessions with Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes on points this offseason.

The Ravens have been in the market for a veteran receiver this season. It is possible that Bryant could play a possession-receiving role alongside speedsters Marquise Brown and Miles Boykin, who expects Baltimore staff to make a leap this year.

At this point, however, Bryant will leave without a deal. We’ll see if one before the season the pike lands in Baltimore. At least the workout shows that teams may be interested in Bryant’s NFL sabbatical in 2020.
