Detroit Lions sign Ohio State’s Jeff Nudah, best pick in the NFL draft

The Detroit Lions announced the signing of Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah on Monday and officially added their first pick of the 2020 NFL draft to the franchise.

The details of the contract for Okudah, the No. 3 choice in the April draft, were not announced. But Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network tweeted a standard four-year deal, with a fifth-year option.

In response to the tweet, Okudah tweeted, “LFG! Let’s make this year special 313.”

The Lions have now signed eight of their nine players from this year’s draft, with Jashon Cornell, the seventh attacker, an Ohio state defensive lineman, as the only one resisted.

The players who have signed are: Okudah; Georgia running back D’Andre Swift (second round; No. 35 overall); Notre Dame linebacker Julian Okwara (third round; No. 67); Ohio State Offensive Lineman Jonah Jackson (third round; No. 75 overall); Kentucky offensive lineman Logan Stenberg (fourth round; No. 121); Wisconsin wide receiver Quintez Cephus (fifth round; No. 166); New Mexico State running back Jason Huntley (fifth round; No. 172); and Utah defensive tackle John Penisini (sixth round; No. 197).

Corrections and Clarifications: An earlier version of this story omitted Jonah Jackson from the list of players the Lions have signed up for their 2020 draft class.
