‘Destiny 2’ shows Shadebinder, Revenant, Behemoth Stasis classes for ‘Beyond Light’

Finally, Destiny 2’s upcoming Beyond Light Stasis subclasses have names, and after 105 minutes of a Gamescom stream, we got a look at another tightly edited trailer that showed off many of the new Stasis capabilities.

The core thread through all of these subclasses seems to be a new mechanic “freeze” and “shatter” that we glimpsed in past trailers, but was here on full display. It looks like certain moves in your toolkit are freezing enemies solidly and then you are able to break them down with follow-up skill, or apparently just plain shots in a few of these shots. It seems that freezing enemies will not necessarily be an insta-kill on say, like miniboss-sized enemies, but I would be surprised if you do not have increased damage to frozen enemies.

So yes, we have taught the tree new names of the subclasses, and they are:

Warlock – Shadebinder, with a Stasis staff emitting frozen projectiles.

Hunter – Revenant, which uses duel ice axes as sham weapons and they can also be thrown. They also have ricocheting Stasis stars.

Titan – Behemoth, where a lot happens. It looks like they have a Superman Titan-style ice punch smash from above, plus the ability to lift glaciers off the ground, plus something like an ice weapon that I assume will work as a sort of damage protection.

It’s a great trailer and the powers that be look cool, but if I’m going to criticize it, it’s that we do not really have it yet. to learn that much about Stasis as its powers, because I kind of hope for a deeper dive into it, and I’m told that one does not get into TWAB of today or anything. We have the names now, which is cool, but this was just an upgrade version of the trailer for Stasis, we saw it a while back.

My core questions for Stasis are how it works compared to other trees in the game. We heard rumblings that Stasis would not follow the “three pillars” tree structure that the classes now follow, so if not, and we’re going in a more “RPG” direction with more open choices, how does that work?

How do we unlock Stasis? I think some of these would get into story spoilers, but in the game Eris recently indicated that she could be our “Darkness Tutor” when the time comes, but in this trailer it was the Exo Stranger who does all the talking.

Finally, I’m curious to learn more about Stasis as an element, more than just a new Guardian subclass. Similarly, will Stasis weapons also freeze and destroy enemies? Are old races now getting enemies with Stasis-matching shields that we need to break with Stasis weapons? Also how do the Fallen use a Beyond Light Stasis, as we seem to have seen them in past trailers? Are they the only race that can do Stasis elemental damage?

Anyway, Stasis looks out of place, and at least we have some new killers that you can see spread throughout this article, like the trailer. Looking forward to hearing more soon.

Update: Bungie has set up a Stasis page with a little more information, including the fact that there will be time for each subclass starting in a week:
