‘Destiny 2’ has secretly made the Solstice Armor Grind easier for 2020 as a crime

If there’s one common complaint about Destiny 2’s Solstice of Heroes event, it’s that the objectives may just be a little too sly for some, especially if you’re trying to get a fully maxed out armor for all three classes.

The list of requirements is massive, and to do it twice more for alternate characters? No thanks. But something seems to be happening for Destiny 2’s Solstice in 2020 to make that easier. For some people at least.

Some players have found that after completing the first set of blue armor requirements and the ‘Majestic’ legendary armor set on a character, they get twice as much progress on goals on their next character. As in, one precision kill counts as two, one Crucible match counts as two, and so on.

Then, others who have almost finished this set found that they get it threefold progress on her third character.

Wow, so Bungie actually listened to the grinding for Solstice and made it less for those performing multiple characters? Awesome! (Update: they did, no sarcasm, see below).

Update: The “bug” is actually a feature that was simply not announced. Not sure why not everyone gets it, but make sure you set the full following level before you start on others:

Also some more advice from me, try to find out why some people do not get the bonus. It can come in handy when you get your weapons, and is not retroactive.

Original article follows below:

While this does happen to some players, it does not happen to everyone. I have heard from many players who report that even with the Majestic set, they do not find that they get any kind of bonus pass on their other characters. I ran a poll of my hardcore Destiny reader base yesterday, and although 46% said yes, they got bonus expiration after finishing the blue set, 54% said they were not. That’s bugging behavior, and there’s also the obvious fact that Bungie never mentioned this when it would have been an obvious selling point for the event.

Finally we heard about what was happening, DMG responded to Mtashed saying that this “does not sound good.”

I do not think this is what DMG is describing here, a kind of “lag”, as what he says sounds missing progress, not bonus progress, but again, this behaves like a flaw, not like a feature.

The problem? The only thing Bungie can do now to not tolerate anyone is to “activate” this bug for all players. If you remove the bug, the players who had it will not be happy. If you leave the break in place, the players who do not have it will literally have a slip that is 2x-3x as long as everyone else. That’s bad. But if it is a bug, just “enable it” for all players is probably a lot harder than it sounds. And this event is only a month long. I would not want to be in Bungie’s shoes trying to figure this out.

The easiest way to find out if you “advantage” this break is to complete one blue set, turn in your weapon right to get the Majesty, then get your blue armor on your next character and shoot a Dreg in the head . If it counts as two, then you are golden, if it is one, the grind can have grace over your soul.

I’m about to go into exactly this. I got off to a late start yesterday, so I have two more pieces to finish on my first blue set. Check back here to see if I’m one of the lucky ones. And for more information on this issue and what Bungie can do about it.

Update: I actually have the “break”, thank God:
