Charging documents filed in Loudoun County District Court on Monday said Derrius Guice’s girlfriend was all too strange until she was consciously at his home in Virginia in March, according to The Washington Post.
When she woke up, Guice cried and tapped her. The woman told authorities that the former Washington back also shrugged and pulled her hair during the incident, reports The Post.
The loading document reportedly reported multiple incidents of abuse. Guice’s girlfriend told police he pushed her to the floor in his bathroom in February, causing her thumb nail to eventually fall off due to a popping blood vessel. The woman also said that Guice pushed her to the ground outside his house on April 17, and he threw her phone into the street, causing it to shake.
The Post the woman reports photos of her injuries from multiple incidents.
Washington released Guice on Friday after he was accused in several incidents of domestic violence. The 23-year-old turned himself in and was released on $ 10,000 bond.
The team said in a statement that it first learned of a possible situation of domestic violence on Thursday and alerted the NFL immediately. Washington met with Guice to excuse him from football activities pending a review of the case. But after learning that multiple charges had been filed against him, Washington sued them and decided to release Guice.
On Monday, coach Ron Rivera said the decision to release Guice was “difficult” but necessary.
“Every time you have to release a very talented player, it’s always a difficult decision,” Rivera said during a video conference with reporters. “We take these allegations very, very seriously and we had to make a decision. I have spoken to them [Washington’s] players yesterday that I made a decision, I believe, was in the best interest of our organization and if it was the right decision, we will benefit from it and if it will not be up to me. I will first and foremost take full responsibility for making sure we do things the right way. “
Guice’s first court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 28, per The Post.
