Denton and Collin counties report 189 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth


The Denton and Collin County Health Departments reported a combined total of 189 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.

Collin County Public Health confirmed 119 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths, bringing the county’s total number of infections to 2,882. In the past seven days, the county has averaged 82 new cases per day.

Since March, Collin County has reported 42 deaths related to the virus.

They also announced the recovery of 51 people, bringing the total number of survivors to 2,147. An estimated 693 known cases remain in the county.

The Denton County Public Health Department reported 70 new cases of the virus Monday with 14 new recoveries and no new deaths.

The county has recorded 37 COVID-19 related deaths in the county since March.

The countywide total of cases is 2,740 with 1,138 recoveries. An estimated 1,565 known people are still fighting the virus in Denton County.

DCPH will provide a free COVID-19 test center in Denton on Tuesday, June 30 and Thursday, July 2 in the University Circle of North Texas parking lot at 350 S. Welch Street from 8 am to noon on two days. Eligible community members are those who have had symptoms of COVID-19 in the past seven days, essential employees, people age 60 and older, as well as people who have had contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19. All community members should call to pre-register for testing at 940-349-2585.
