LAS VEGAS – UFC President Dana White made reviews for Anthony Smith on Saturday after a decisive career win at the UFC on the ESPN18 headliner.
Smith (-16 33-1 M MMA, -6-Dev UFC) faced a certain loss pair in his light heavyweight main event against Devin Clark (12-M MMA, defin-5 UFC). He needed to restart to prove he was still a contender, and did as much as winning a first-round submission at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
White admitted that this is a crossroads fight for “Sinhoheart” and was impressed by his response.
“It felt horrible,” he told reporters, including post-fight MMA junkie at UFC on ECPN18. White told reporters. “They came into the statement, and got the message. It felt great.”
It’s been a rough year for Smith, both inside and outside the Octagon. He has faced personal difficulties, including a home invasion, which has left his family in the spotlight. His position in the 5 205 rankings was also disappointing, but he showed confidence in beating Clarke.
However, nothing was easy about the lead-up of this fight. After the original headliner between Curtis Blades and Derrick Lewis was called up on wait-in-day, Smith’s fight was promoted to the main event, and he was converted into five of three rounds.
However, Smith remained in composition during all the changes and did his job by staying in that cage when the time came. White wants to see it from his fighters, he said, and now things are looking for Smith.
White said, “These are the things you have to do. “You’ll see a lot in this business, people trying to grab their places and not fight with anyone. That’s not the way to do it. This is how you do what he did tonight. Are you still good If you’re still good, you should go out and do what you did tonight with someone like Devin Clark: (a) Young, hungry breeders who want to work their way up and steal your space. You have to go out and make a statement, and he did it that night. People respect it. ”
