The FBI acknowledged receiving the letter, but the office declined to comment further. In their letter, Democratic leaders demanded the briefing “before the August break as soon as possible,” and want a set time for the end of Monday.
The authors of the letter did not provide additional details about the nature of the counterintelligence threat that they described. But lawmakers from both parties have warned for months that foreign powers like Russia intend to interfere with the 2020 electoral process in the United States.
