The Keynote Address of the 2020 Democratic National Convention will feature 17 of the party’s ‘rising stars’ from across the nation, in a new “reimagined” presentation to provide “powerful and diverse voices” of the “next generation” of party leaders.
On Sunday, Democratic convention leaders announced plans for the Keynote address, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, the second day of their virtual convention, under the “Leadership Matters” theme.

“The focus of the night will be on the leaders and the experts, the veterans and the activists, and all those who are trying to unite and not divide, and who are stepping up – and not turning back – out of a fight over which is good, “Democratic convention officials said Sunday.
Candidates for the Keynote Address will include former Georgian candidate Stacey Abrams, who was rumored to be on Joe Biden’s shortlist; Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, who before he was elected an NFL player and a civil rights attorney focused on voting rights; Nevada State Sen. Yvanna Cancela, who is the first Latina to serve in the First Chamber; Long Beach, California Mayor Robert Garcia, the city’s first openly gay mayor and a Peruvian immigrant; and more.
“Amidst all the chaos and crisis our nation is facing, Democrats are focused on finding new and innovative ways to involve more Americans than ever before, because that’s how we mobilize the nation to turn Donald Trump into November, ”2020 Democratic National Convention CEO Joe Solmonese said in a statement Sunday.
“The keynote of the convention has always been the bell for the future of our party and our nation, and as Americans vote new week they will find the smart, rigid leadership we need to meet this critical moment,” he said. he went on.
Convention officials said the Keynote address “would weave powerful and diverse voices from the next generation of party leaders in a unanimous promise to step up and lead in this critical moment for the nation.”
“These young elections will offer a variety of different ideas and perspectives on how America can move forward, but they will all speak to the future we are building together – a future with Joe Biden at the helm,” officials said. .
The convention is scheduled to begin Monday, August 17 and run through Thursday, August 20, and will mark Joe Biden’s official transition from the party’s presumptive nominee to his official presidential candidate.
The convention will program four nights each night at 9 a.m. EST and end at 11 p.m.

The Democratic convention was originally convened at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Due to the pandemic, however, the party has moved almost the entire convention to be virtual, as it plans a “Convention Across America” that will include all 57 states and territories in its programming.
In Milwaukee, the convention will have its production centered at the Wisconsin Center, a convention center in the city. Meanwhile, delegates and speakers will remain at home – almost submitting their votes and giving their addresses.
To coordinate the mass media production that includes two hours of programming for four consecutive nights, the DNC taps Ricky Kirshner, a nine-time Emmy winner who has been the executive producer of the Tony Awards and the Super Bowl for more than one decade each has been. Kirshner is a DNC regulator, having worked at every convention since 1992.

The DNC will bring in four nights of headliners to talk during its two-hour programming window. In addition, each night will feature a specific theme focused on Biden’s strengths and Trump’s weaknesses. Monday will be “We the People”, Tuesday will be “Leadership Matters”, Wednesday will be “A More Perfect Union” and Thursday will be “America’s Promise”.
