Demi Lovato offers a touching introduction to Shea Diamond at the GLAAD Media Awards

Demi Lovato appeared during the live broadcast of the GLAAD Media 2020 Awards on Thursday (July 30) to offer some heartfelt words of support for the LGBTQ community, particularly young trans people. “I want to specifically remind trans youth that you matter. I know things are very difficult right now, and you may not have your usual support system around you … but don’t let anyone, especially our government, I tricked you into thinking you are less than perfect and you are meant to be, “Lovato said. “Be proud of who you are, keep your voices strong and strong, and know that we are here fighting for you.”

Noting the “scandalous discrimination” faced by trans people of color in the United States, Lovato presented one of the fiercest voices in that community: Shea Diamond. The amazing singer and her socially distant band played the celebratory hymn “I Am America,” which is the theme song for HBO’s. They were here and one of our favorite LGBTQ songs of the year.
