A former Marine SEAL involved in the robbery that killed Osama bin Laden has been banned from flying Delta Air Lines after a selfie of himself posted on a flight without a mask on the post, the airline on The Hill confirmed on Thursday .
Robert O’Neill tweeted a photo of himself without a mask on Wednesday morning, titled “I’m not a p —-.” The tweet has since been deleted.
“Part of every customer’s commitment before traveling with Delta is to give the required recognition to our updated travel policies, including wearing a mask. If we do not meet our mask-wearing mandate, it could result in losing the future to fly Delta, ‘a Delta spokesman told The Hill.
O’Neill tweeted on Thursday afternoon that he was banned from Delta.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in July that more than 100 people had been added to Delta’s no-fly list because they refused to wear a mask on a flight. The airline has been requiring passengers to wear masks on flights since May 1.
Airlines for America (A4A), which represents major U.S. airlines including Delta, warned in June that customers could be on a carrier’s do-not-fly list if they refuse to wear a face mask on planes.
Airlines allow passengers who eat or drink to remove their masks, and passengers who have a medical exception are also not required to wear a mask.
