Delivery driver, security guard – protest at Popeys after violent clashes between NBC 4 Washington

Protests erupted in Maryland after a violent clash between a male security guard and a female food delivery driver.

Parts of the confrontation were captured on camera at the Popeye’s restaurant on Capitol Heights on Saturday.

The video taken by the witness shows a struggle with the delivery driver, Stephanie Samuels, security guard Darrell Poston.

Samuels says she was trying to leave the restaurant when the post asked her to use a separate door to follow the restaurant’s coronavirus protocols. She says she was attacked when the postcar refused.

“He grabbed me by the throat and pushed me back,” he said. “I threw away the soda. He grabbed me by my hair and wrapped it around his arm, constantly hitting me in the face, then took me to the corner, took his handcuffs and put it on one of my exteriors and started hitting me. “

Two days later, Samuels said he still deals with the trauma of all this

He said, ‘I was disrespected, and as a woman no one but me should stand for me.’ “I had to run away blindly from the mattress here and find my own car with the kids waiting for me. No one should feel that. ”

Prince George County police officers were called to the scene but no arrests were made. Investigators said they were trying to get their hands on any additional recordings of the incident.

Samuels filed second-degree assault charges against Poston. He made similar allegations against her. Samuel said he welcomes the court’s involvement.

“We can at least go to court toe to toe and let the judge find out what is true, because the evidence is in the pile.”

“We have no tolerance for violence in our rest restaurant rent and will always take swift action to deal with it,” Popaiz said in a statement. “We have reviewed the facts available with our franchisee and we are very concerned about the aggressive action of the duty police officer involved. We expect the local police department to take action. “

Protesters held a Black Woman Matter demonstration outside the Popeye’s, telling customers what had happened and urging them to take their dollars elsewhere.

“Some people who wear badges think they treat us with disrespect, we are not equal citizens, that they can lay their hands on us and disrespect us, and to no avail,” protested Crystal Riadha. Said.
