‘Dear God, stop the nonsense’: Chicago Mayor Cockid descends on McConnell with relief

While there is some bipartisan agreement on the writing of a new phase of the stimulus investigation, McConnell has forced negotiators to drop two of the biggest sticking points in the negotiations: Democrats ‘desire for state aid and Democrats’ hope of protecting responsibility for potentially confronted employers.

“I know there’s a lot of posturing going on in Washington, D.C., but dear God, stop this nonsense,” Lightfoot said. “Do something. We are delivering heartfelt and heartfelt condolences to our country and we need the federal government to move forward and do their job.”

Like many cities across the country, Chicago has been hit hard by the impact of Covid-19 on tax revenue. The Chicago City Council last month approved a 21 12.8 billion budget for 2021 that would help widen the budget deficit by ફી 1.2 billion with a 1. 1.2 million increase in property taxes and an increase in fees and penalties. The city, the state of Illinois, and most of the Midwest, has seen an increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths in recent weeks, leading to new bans on restaurants and other businesses already struggling to keep up.

Some Republicans are also looking to help Democratic-heavy cities, while McConnell’s close allies say some states don’t need help, arguing for an approach that focuses on schools, colleges, childcare and personal relief.

“Basically turning to state and local governments at a time when we are hemorrhaging and seeing a serious decline in services, taking people to the streets, and creating unemployment, is cutting back on services that can really stimulate the economy – unbelievable. Short-sighted, ”Lightfett said.
