Jason Slater – One of the original members of the rock band Third Blind Eye – has died … TMZ has learned.
Jason’s daughter, Alyssa Carlson, Tells TMZ … Rock musician died Wednesday at a hospital in Maui from liver failure. Alyssa says her dad kept her condition a secret … telling us she just found out she landed at the hospital when she got the call.
A representative for Third Eye Blind tells TMZ … even though they haven’t spoken to Jason since 1996, “it’s always a sad time when an enthusiastic member of the music scene is taken too soon.”
Jason was the band’s bassist and backup singer when it was formed in 1993. He recorded his first demo and left the band after his first year. He became a bassist, songwriter and producer with many other bands, including Snake River Conspiracy, Microdot, Revenge of the Triads, and the rap-rock project Brau Gum.
Back in 2008, Jason posted the video on YouTube, which was the first recording session of the Third Eye Blind. After Jess left the band, the band enjoyed most of its success, releasing its self-titled album in 1997 and another, “Blue” in 1999.
