Dead by Daylight Gets Cross-Play and Cross-Friends Features Today

Dead by Daylight developer Behavior Interactive announced the debut of the highly anticipated features for cross-play and cross-friends in the popular asymmetric horror game, with impressive numbers as high as 25+ million players and an average of over one million players.

However, the recently released Dead by Daylight mobile version will not be in the cross-play Matchmaking pool due to the differences in game systems and architecture compared to PC and consoles.

A while ago, Behavior also discussed Cross-Progression, which will be added to Dead by Daylight next month, but only for a few platforms.

We are pleased to announce that we are preparing the first steps for Cross-Progression and that it will be available in September for Steam, Google Stadiums and Nintendo Switch! Players will be able to share their progression, purchases, and inventory on those 3 platforms – Exceptions may be made to comply with some external licensing requirements.

As of today, we can not make Cross-Progression available for Dead by Daylight on other platforms and we have no guarantee that it will happen. However, we know that this is a wish of the community, and we will continue to try to make it happen.

How will Cross-Progression work?

Combining several years of progression of millions of players’ games is a technical challenge that few games attempt to tackle.

We have spent a lot of time preparing and discussing the best way to deliver Cross-Progression to our players. We want to make sure that the transition will be smooth and that we protect the progress of our player.

To achieve a smooth transition, we had to build a glowing ecosystem. Players will need to create a Behavior Account to link their progression so that our server can merge it.

All of our efforts will be focused on controlling account merging to ensure that players have no problem during that complex process.
