DC homicide detective killed by wife in murder-suicide, police say – NBC4 Washington

According to Charles County Police, a detective in the DC murder scene was killed by his wife, who then fatally shot him at his home in Walldurf, Maryland.

Timothy 0-year-old Timothy Eugene Francis and his wife Christina Lynn Francis (1) were found at their home on Friday, police said.

At 6 p.m., officers visited the couple’s home in the 3300 block of Marilia Court after a family member reported that no contact could be made with the daughter.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department say the evidence suggests that Christina then shot Timothy. It is not clear when or why the attack took place.

Both died, officials said.

Timothy Francis has been a member of the Metropolitan Police Department for 20 years, DC Police said.

“It is extremely difficult to mourn the tragic loss of our comrade and friend,” Police Chief Peter Newsheim said in a statement. “Detective Francis spent two decades trying to save the community from violence, and it’s heartbreaking to learn that he was a victim of cow slaughter.”

Most recently, he was a detective in the MPD’s cow slaughter branch. The branch captain told other investigators about the murder in a message obtained by News4.

“In an attempt to reduce any rumors, it primarily appears that he was the victim of this tragic crime,” said Capt. Carlos T. Heraid said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information has been asked to contact Charles County Police at 301-609-6571. Anonymous tips can be submitted at www.charlescountycrimesolvers.com.
